The Top 25 Ways to Win Arguments

The Top 25 Ways to Win Arguments. I just thought this was interesting since I remembering discussing the whole, “Would I rather have the last word? Or first?”. I think this ties in very nicely with trying to make peace between both sides if it is possible. Enjoy.

What I Know About Halloween and What it Means to Me

Jack-o-latern

Some people know this day as Halloween, “All Saints Day“, or Samhain. Some people know the history of this day while others do not. In later years, we do know that the holiday ultimately lost its true meaning. Originally this day was a Pagan celebrated holiday. Samhain actually means “Summer’s End” which meant of course the end of summer and the beginning of the long winter months. This is the time when people who were affected by this change prepared by drying or smoking meat, hanging herbs in their rafters, where they should have gathered as much of their crops up, well before hand, for the winter months and stored them appropriately since everything has long died off now.

This is also the time when we “Honor our Ancestors” or “Honor the Dead” those who have come before us by spinning tales by hearth or bonfire (maybe a fake electric fireplace) of these “Ancestors” in order to give them life and to perhaps teach our children lessons of character, valor, honor, integrity, or whatever it is we wish them to learn. Beauty, a Gift and a Curse

This may come as a SHOCK but if you are born naturally & aesthetically pleasing to the eye, Beauty can be both a GIFT and very much so a CURSE. How one grows up with this “Gift” is completely dependent upon our environment. Some mother’s enter their daughters into “Beauty Pageants” at an early age and often this is psychologically damaging for the child. Other times parents are aware they have a beautiful child, but they let them be and raise them like normal children. I believe most parents however like to believe their children are all beautiful even if other people do not agree. Then there are the parents that don’t do much to reassure their children that they are “Good Looking” at all and if the school bullies get to them first – there’s a likely chance the child might believe they are being picked on NOT because they are different, but because they are – in fact – ugly. What Makes Someone Beautiful – to Me

Tibetan endless knot

I’ve been exploring this venue since I was wee lass to the present and beyond (I’m sure). What makes someone beautiful to me – isn’t just “physical” it is also mental and spiritual. Their heart and soul. Are they intelligent? Can I have a conversations with them that keeps my interest? Do we share any common interests? What type of “character” are they? What are their morals, codes, ethics, philosophy, belief, and conduct? What is important to them as human beings? What kind of “company” do they keep (by company I mean “friends”)? How do they treat others?

I try to look at a person from many levels & angles. I look at their actions and listen to their words to see if they hold true to what a person believes. Or if they are merely wearing a “Mask” over their true intentions. I feel every person has a great amount of depth that is WORTH exploring and learning about that makes them beautiful. Yes; some people read like “books” but there still must be something, to me at least, that makes them unique as human beings.

To me, beauty is many things and yet so much more than words can adequately describe. What is beauty to you?

So there was no post this day because I had some trouble with my internet connection. After about 1 computer restart and resetting the modem up to FIVE times last night – I found myself defeated and had to resort to other activities to do until the morrow. I don’t know what the problem was considering the connection is NOW working and has been since this morning. I hopefully should have a new topic for you today/tomorrow. Cheers!

A Thankless Job – Or Maybe Not?

Tarot card from the Rider-Waite tarot deck, al...

This is a VERY special story near and dear to my heart, for it is NOT something someone like myself sees everyday, but when it happens people like myself are filled with a VERY warm feeling inside and a gladness that cannot possibly described adequately in words. Firstly, some brief re-cap for those of us just joining in on the L.G. train. For those of you out there who don’t know, I’m a Priestess. Don’t ask what Tradition, you won’t get an answer for personal reasons.

In my personal experience and field, the job of the Priest/ess can be and largely is lots of hard work, dedication, long hours, often doesn’t pay (monetarily) for a VERY long time, and more often than not is a THANKLESS job but someone has to do it and we know that. We do this job regardless because we understand sometimes seeing a “Shrink” isn’t the first option people want to think of when it simply comes to “needing someone to talk to you can trust”.

In our field, I’ve come across two types of “Thanks yous” in my life thus far. The ones that are out of obligation and the ones that are given out of PURE and HONEST gratitude. The latter is the one I would LOVE to hear the most – but often we as Priest/esses don’t hear these types of “Thanks Yous“. We often have to convince ourselves that what we do is for the highest and greatest good of those who come to us and it doesn’t matter if they return to give that heartfelt “Thank you” we have to learn to accept not everyone WILL return to do just that. So we must be satisfied by the fact we “tried” to help the individual whether they take our advice or no, it is their free-will, and it’s in Spirits hands after we have done our job. More

Where is the most relaxing place in my world?

Nature

There really isn’t just one place I find relaxing. There tends to be more than one given the right circumstances. Sometimes it is home. Sometimes I find relaxation in meditation. Other times I might just find it in “Nature” which I consider part of my “Temple”. When I’m at home, like I am now, my backyard and our lower lot are two of my favorite places to wander. The energy feels wonderful and the air is so pure and clean. At night I can see the stars very clearly. It’s a decent small town if you can handle the lack of employment, but it is my home and I still love it regardless.

Anyone else care to share where their favorite place (s) to relax are?

Banality, Belief and Faith

The Faith, sculpted in stone from Badajoz in 1...

Banality is stronger than belief, yet Faith is stronger still“. I’ve heard my teacher utter this phrase more times than I can count and in all honesty I still haven’t quite had my epiphany of “OH! I get it!”. Instead I understand the meaning of what is being said – but something just isn’t clicking. These three forces are considered some of the most basic in understanding how the world works and how we can manifest that which we desire in our lives. I’m going to break it down and maybe by doing so I’ll have my epiphany – if I’m lucky.

What is Banality? In the realms that I work with “Banality” often deals with “negativity” or anything that is considered “negative”.  It can be a thought, a word, a phrase, a feeling, worries, doubts, and fears. Banality to my teacher and myself is often found in forms such as:

You can’t do that,” sarcasm, cynicism, dishonest intentions such as saying one thing but meaning another, “You deserve to be happy*with me*…” More

Reader Interuption 1

Sorry everyone, I know this is VERY late. I should have written something the evening before. I haven’t been feeling well at all today – I’m largely to blame for that. Thought I was doing something good for me – wasn’t aware how bad off I’d be today from the experience. Any who, we shall return to your regular scheduled “blogging” hopefully by tomorrow. If not, you know why. Again sorry about not having anything fun today to read, but I will soon. I have 3 things on my back-burner now, just trying to piece them together as best I can in my mind and heart. So look forward to that bit of information. Take care!

Do I Like Surprises?

Surprise!

Daily Post Topic 285:

Do you like surprises? Why or why not? Can you think of the best or worse surprise you’ve had in the last year?

I actually do like surprises, but typically those of the “Positive” disposition. If it’s “You’re being billed this much this month!”, “I ran over your cat”, “I had to lay you off”, ye-ah – I could do without those kinds of “surprises”. The best surprise came in a gift. A Mini Liquor Chocolate Cabinet full to the brim of different various kinds of alcohol. BEST GIFT EV-AH! And I didn’t eat all of them in one night, it was over a long period of about three months or so and I shared. :P

Worse surprise ever was actually when I was about 6 and I heard the news my best-friend/nanny cat was run over. Mom found him and we buried him together. I was depressed for a long time about that. :(

Other than that, that’s my thoughts in a nutshell. Anyone else like or dislike surprises? Maybe want to share one of their favorite or WORSE surprises they’ve had?
