Mother God, Father God

Whether you believe it or not, all religions no matter what they are have some commonalities one way or another. Many cultures out there who have their own religion had little or NO contact (way back in the day) with some of these cultures who’s religions are now major in the world at large. One of these commonalities I see and feel that has been a persistent element is that of the “Mother God” and “Father God” themes.

Of the many Pagan or even non-Pagan oriented of religious organizations out there this is something I have noticed, even Christianity has it. Yes; it does if you look at it from the right perspective. In Christianity you have the Saints and Holy Mothers and Fathers. It could be argued The Virgin Mary is a Mother God figure since many people believe Jeshua (Jesus) is the Son of God and somehow God himself in a way. Same could be said of Mary Magdalene whom there is a great deal of speculation over.

So if these two could potentially be Mother God figures than who would be our Father God figures? Good question. More often than not in Christianity this big entity known as the All Powerful “God” is the one who is considered the Father God. However, Joseph, father or step-father (depending on your scripture) could be considered a Father God figure as could Jeshua (Jesus).

Now I mentioned Pagan religions earlier and I’ll touch base on two since there are far too many out there. In Norse mythology you have Freyja and Odin. In Celtic Mythology, depending upon your region, variants of Danu and The Dagda were considered the Mother God and Father God of the culture. In Hindu culture you have Brahma and Saraswati.

One of the reasons why I feel there is this obvious duality of power is – reflection. “As it is in heaven – so it shall be on earth” or in my tradition, “As above – so below“. There has always been a balance that is struck between the Heavens and Earth. This is always how it has been and shall be. There is Life and there is Death. Living and Decay. Hate and Love. Sorrow and Joy. Order  and Chaos and so much more than I could list.

But I just wanted to bring this up and forward, though I know for some this is NOT a new concept, that you can take comfort and heart knowing there CAN be a Mother God and Father God if that is what you feel comfortable with. Embrace it and let your true authentic self shine through and be embraced as well.

Thank you for reading.

~Blessings, good fortune and more be yours, namaste~
