2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 6,500 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 11 years to get that many views.

I wish I had the citation, but I remember reading that 2012 — despite all its flaws, all its political bickering, and all of the Bad Things ™ that happen in the world — has been the most prosperous year in all of human history. More people have been brought up out of poverty in 2012 than any year, ever, in recorded history.

If you can’t smile about that, I’m not sure what would. 🙂

I’m very happy to hear that. I know the year prior I felt so much negativity and depression hanging over the state and town I live in. This year had a rough start for me but toward the end it did get a little better. I am just hoping 2013 is going to be incredible for me and those I care about.

Indeed; sadly, the United States has seen better times. Other parts of the world, however — China, India, Brazil — are seeing incredible increases in living standards.

I shan’t comment on the state of our political system (not without some poking and prodding, anyway ;P) but ’tis something that I wish we could, as it were, “nuke from orbit.” 😀

Be well, and may 2013 find you well. I look forward to seeing more of your writings!
