Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop? STOP!

This is for all the folks who are or have been intuitive enough to just know when something big in the world is happening. For those who believed that in 2012 the World shifted or at least should have shifted into a brand new dimension or plane of existence, perhaps grandfathering everyone into a better state of being, thus ushering in a new world of peace. For all the Indigo, Crystal, Rainbow, Starseeds, Blue-Rays and/or Walk-ins, yes, this is for you too.

Some of you, might be like me, wondering what exactly happened? Some folks were expecting the end times, while others such as myself were hoping for something far better. Some of us did indeed feel a shift of sorts, but nothing major seemed to occur. We aren’t now living in a peaceful utopia. We are living in a new K’atun, that of Chaos. You mention the word ‘Chaos‘ though and most people freak out.

Chaos?! OH GODS! It must be the end of the world!” is probably some folks reaction, maybe even now after reading what I had said. However, Chaos is not always bad. Chaos can simply mean ‘Change’ as well, though – it might get a little hairy at times.

Many of us were waiting for this, “Phenomenal Cosmic Powers! Itty bitty living space,” (Sorry, couldn’t help myself) event to occur, yet when the time came and went, nothing truly seemed different, but we could feel an energy shift of sorts and there were changes that began to occur. Some folks were reporting having a pretty bad year in 2012 before it became 2013, myself included.
The best thing that happened that year was the completion of my first novel.

Even now, it seems as though the world isn’t really getting better but worse, if anything. There have been more School shootings over the last few years. Why this is, I’m not entirely sure, I know it can’t be just from bullying alone, though that doesn’t help – it only adds fuel to the fire. The attitude of the world or where we live might not seem better either.

A Good Deed Remembered

I have been trying to think of what my next topic would be and today I was reminded of a very scary and terrifying incident that turned out to have a happy ending, along with a little more.

This story is about an act of “kindness” that was shown to me and mine when it was needed most. About a year ago (or so), the sun was just setting and my Mother was on her way home from Kitten Rescue. I was inside preoccupying myself with, I think, my blog. I had no idea what had happened outside, otherwise I’d have been in a bit of a panic.

I heard the sound of a car, honking. This happened a few times in an urgent manner so I got up and rushed out to the front porch. It was my Mother and she called to me and said, “Is this Amadan?” and my heart sank a little. To my horror, Amadan was lying motionless in the road.
For those unaware, Amadan is my Seal-point Siamese-Mix I have had since his birth along with his brother Loki, who traveled with my Brother, their brother Gabriel, their mother Cammy and I all the way from Florida back home to Washington.

When I was able to get my shoes on and rush out there to help my Mother, Amadan was just starting to regain consciousness. He yowled in pain. He had broken a tooth, he was a little banged up, but he looked fine over all. I was so freaked out, terrified and trying to keep it together and remain as calm as I could, running Reiki healing energy on him to help.

Gwen’s Evening Magazine – FlyingCats Gourmet Foods & Gifts!

What I was working on this afternoon.

What I was working on in the earlier part of the afternoon.

Hello everyone! I know I’m not in “Sync” with my new posting schedule I’d like to get on, but that’s why I’m posting now. Going to try to get caught up over the next few days. In the meantime though, with my free-time I’ve been working on making costume pieces for my Dawn Cosplay for FanExpo in Vancouver, B.C.. Granted I can’t have a full authentic Dawn costume due to time constraints and a lack of proper budget, but I’ll be DAMNED/BLESSED if I at least DON’T dress up!

Dressing up is like half the fun of the conventions I go to! By the way, I’m a major perfectionist and stickler when it comes to proper Cosplay-Justice so, it almost HURTS not being able to make a wonderful, beautiful costume for me to wear. *sigh* Not so much so that I’m going to cry about it though. I do understand. I just feel NAKED without a costume when everyone else is wearing them!

That’s it for the personal update, on to the real story of the evening/day.

If some of the local Seattleites couldn’t guess by the title, this is MY addition of the Seattle’s Evening Magazine just without the cameras, proper lighting, awesome microphones, etc. I’d do a video but my only means to upload it would be Youtube and I’m not all that interested nor THRILLED to do that.

I wanted to spot-light a special little shop that’s in Ocean Shores, WA. If you’ve never been there it is very pretty, but many of the businesses and places shut down during the Winter, since that’s when our tourism is slowest. There are a couple of Casinos there, some rather nice hotels (some rather expensive), activities such as Horseback Riding on the Beach, a Family Fun Center and there’s other wonderful and local businesses there aside from the, “Buy our Souvenirs so you have something to take home!“. Pool Party

Hello and good evening everyone!

Truth be told I’ve wanted to write-up something new for the past few days. However, I’ve been very busy on, sadly, Second Life reorganizing my inventory. Something they recommend for Newbies of Second Life. Also cleaning house in my inventory which is just as important. I’ve also been busy trying to figure out how to made a “Business Card” of sorts to promote my skills and services as a Priestess and Healer.

Before I move on to what I wanted to get at with today’s update, if you are interested in tracking me down to ask me about a Reading (Tarot/Oracle/Psychic) or other services I offer (as a Priestess & Healer people, get your minds out of the gutter), my name is Lady Gwendolynn de Dannan. Feel free to IM me or drop a notecard my way. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can when I’m online. Thank you.

And if you just want to friend me and get to know me better, that’s another good reason to say hello and I won’t object. 😛

Down to business, I know it’s a little late – but as they say, better late than never! I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this in a previous P.A.U. before so if I haven’t, I remembered and I’m doing it this time for you benefit! Tomorrow, Tuesday,  February 5th, 2013 at 7 P.M. EST (4 P.M. PST, that’s my time by the way), Daniel Michael of Mainstreet Universe; Blogtalk Radio, will be doing a book interview with me about “Operation Charlie Bravo”.

I know one of my readers (you know who you are) reported to me that 2012 has been one of the most profitable years despite the obvious Depression the United States and quite possibly the World has been under. I know there are still people out there desperate for jobs, food, a helpful and hopeful answer to the many questions that they may have regarding their fears, doubts and worries in these economic times. Those of you who remember your American History, if you remember anything about “The Great Depression“, probably remember sitting through movies or Documentaries depicting folks during “The Great Depression” in hovels (“Hoovervilles“), maybe in boarding home situations or other living conditions.

The American people, many of them, banded together to help one another out. Even if they didn’t like their living conditions or want things to be that way, they did what was necessary and humanely just for their fellow-man and it helped them to survive and get by. They shared their meals and what little they had with one another. Granted, there may have still been some crime during this time but I don’t remember hearing much about it. No; instead I heard stories of camaraderie and how the people demonstrated their distaste with President Herbert Hoover for not keeping to his word after making so many promises to the American People. Hey everyone, another informal post today. However, this one is very important and I wanted to make sure I got it done before my trip. For those unfamiliar I hail from a small town called Shelton, WA. I sometimes claim Olympia too but that’s because I visit there often (more to do there). Shelton is very much an “Entertain Yourself” kind of town. If you have ever lived in or do live in a small town, you know how this way of life works. It can be rather boring. Shelton used to have a Bowling Ally too. Unfortunately it burned down some years ago. They refuse to rebuild it because of some old ridiculous laws (and if I could find them again I’d be pointing them out in another blog post later).

Since the Bowling Ally burned down though, alternative forms of entertainment have been difficult to find (working out doesn’t exactly count in my book by the way) without having to travel all the way to Olympia to spend money outside the town when Shelton needs just as much money as it can get to survive right now. So, our one sliver of hope, our one last source of entertainment  (aside from the skate park which isn’t exactly for everybody) is the local movie theater which is calling on members of the community (I think outside of the community would be pretty spectacular too by the way) to donate money to help them with “Upgrading” their equipment. Local Hidden Treasures – Cove Crystals

Today I’m switching gears once more toward something local of my hometown of Shelton, WA. I also have a special treat planned for the end of this blog. So be sure to check it out.

If you live in Shelton, WA you know that most of the businesses here are “Small Businesses” run, owned and operated by locals who are either 1st generation, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen or maybe even older. We do also have some of your stereotypical “Chain Businesses” as well in our hometown, one of which in particular helped and killed the local economy (Wal-Mart) to a far extent, along with the Recession (or if you know better “Depression”). Not Your Fair, My Fair!

Empty Fairground Ride

Empty Fairground Ride (Photo credit: groks)

Today I’m going to be talking about something important to me. An issue concerning my hometown of Shelton, WA.

Sometime back in January I remember reading in the local paper of my hometown that the Shelton Fairgrounds was on a lease to the City of Shelton from the Federal government. This lease is supposed to expire in January of 2013 which is, more or less, just around the corner. Once the lease is up it becomes the property of the Shelton Airfield. Now, I don’t know what the Airfield intends to DO with the Fairgrounds once it reacquires it, whether it would be to give it to the County as a gift so that we could continue to have a Fairgrounds or  to possibly bulldoze it to make a bigger Airfield. That is the most uncertain thing about this matter. I’m certain they have enough space for their planes, but I could also be wrong. As it STANDS though, I feel our Fairgrounds are a very important and vital asset to maintain and keep. If anything it should be bigger, but sadly it’s not as big as we’d probably like it to be. Point is, the Shelton Fairgrounds is, in a way, an extremely crucial source of income and culture for the city. If we were to lose that, I’m not entirely sure where we’d have our cultural events, expos, or anything else. We could have them in Hoodsport but that wouldn’t make any sense. We could have them in Downtown but then people might complain once more about traffic bog-down. More
