WARNING!!! THIS IS A FAN BASED MILD RANT ON THE USE OF MAGICK IN THE “ONCE UPON A TIME” UNIVERSE/SERIES. IF YOU DON’T WISH TO READ THIS SORT OF THING, YOU HAVE BEEN DUELY WARNED AND YOU CAN READ AT YOUR OWN RISK HENCEFORTH. 😉
Some of you may know (if you follow my Twitter at all) that I am a fan of the show “Once Upon a Time”. I have been a fan since the start and throughout the series I have either completely -loved- the retelling of some of the classic fairytales, have been undecided or absolutely scrunched up my nose at others (where Dwarves come from? *shudders*)
Today I’m talking about one of those things I scrunch my nose up at, more specifically something that -bugs- me -most- since the beginning of this series. I have noticed a trend that the only beings with magic are the Faeries and the “Evil Villains”. *SPOILER ALERT, DO NOT READ NEXT LINE IF YOU DON’T WANT A SPOILER!*
Despite the fact that the “Savior” Emma we come to find out has “Magick” running through her veins, she is only one of the two seemingly good forces I have seen in the show (The good witches of Wizard of Oz storyline not quite counting since they aren’t from the Enchanted Forest, we are talking about Enchanted Forest Folks, not folks from other worlds within Once).
It’s a bit “irk-some” to see this since there is nothing anywhere that says there could be more folks who have learned magic in order to harness it for “Good”. Emma more or less being the only one (beside Faeries), is just not enough for someone like me.

This is for all the folks who are or have been intuitive enough to just know when something big in the world is happening. For those who believed that in 2012 the World shifted or at least should have shifted into a brand new dimension or plane of existence, perhaps grandfathering everyone into a better state of being, thus ushering in a new world of peace. For all the Indigo, Crystal, Rainbow, Starseeds, Blue-Rays and/or Walk-ins, yes, this is for you too.
Some of you, might be like me, wondering what exactly happened? Some folks were expecting the end times, while others such as myself were hoping for something far better. Some of us did indeed feel a shift of sorts, but nothing major seemed to occur. We aren’t now living in a peaceful utopia. We are living in a new K’atun, that of Chaos. You mention the word ‘Chaos‘ though and most people freak out.
“Chaos?! OH GODS! It must be the end of the world!” is probably some folks reaction, maybe even now after reading what I had said. However, Chaos is not always bad. Chaos can simply mean ‘Change’ as well, though – it might get a little hairy at times.
Many of us were waiting for this, “Phenomenal Cosmic Powers! Itty bitty living space,” (Sorry, couldn’t help myself) event to occur, yet when the time came and went, nothing truly seemed different, but we could feel an energy shift of sorts and there were changes that began to occur. Some folks were reporting having a pretty bad year in 2012 before it became 2013, myself included.
The best thing that happened that year was the completion of my first novel.
Even now, it seems as though the world isn’t really getting better but worse, if anything. There have been more School shootings over the last few years. Why this is, I’m not entirely sure, I know it can’t be just from bullying alone, though that doesn’t help – it only adds fuel to the fire. The attitude of the world or where we live might not seem better either.

A true musing of my mind for you today folks. If you get “scared” grab a Plushie to hold, squeeze and cuddle (or a pet). If you get confused, which may or may not happen because I’m going to try my best to be pretty clear and not jump around too much, please ask me to clarify my meaning in comments. Thank you.
This is dedicated to all the Priests, Priestesses and others of that nature of all paths, orders, traditions, faiths or whatever and wherever you may be.
As primarily a Solitary Priestess on her path it has not always been easy, as I am sure it has been much the same for others like myself. People don’t often understand the trials, struggles and tribulations we experiences. The hardships and ridicule we endure. We’ve done nothing wrong except be ourselves and pursue a path that “fits”, “makes sense”, a part of who we are we cannot fight that brings us great joy and happiness in following that path. Conversely, there is also much sadness, sorrow, worries, doubts and fears too.
In modern society most people expect that anything you can/could do in the world can be proven with a single piece of paper that supposedly “claims” you’ve done some kind of official study with someone, somewhere to achieve this new level of understanding or learning. This too goes the same for Priests and Priestesses. I can’t tell you how many times, because honestly I don’t remember, I’ve told someone, “I’m self-studied” or “I’m self-taught/trained” and immediately they’ve ceased all contact with me or they’ve completely mocked, berated, belittled and ridiculed me.
It hurts, it sucks but there isn’t much you can do about it, except have faith in yourself and that you are following the right path for YOU.
Too many people, as I hear, get discouraged by these sorts of things, but again – it’s like what I’ve heard many a good Christian say, “It’s a test of your Faith. A test of your Dedication. A test of your Endurance, perseverance and personal strength.” I actually and honestly believe that, to a fair degree. See, when you follow a path that is considered, “Reconstructionist” to me, in a way, anything goes or your Path, can be whatever it needs to be or wants to be so long as it runs in the same vein of what your initially trying to pursue as your actual path. So I know this might be after Yule, Christmas and everything else we were celebrating last month, but I didn’t want to wait until next year to do this and I didn’t have the strength or conviction to write this topic during my trip to Vancouver. I saw Home Alone on yesterday so I know it’s not too late yet – because people are still kind of coasting on the afterglow of the holidays. Whether that is good or bad is up for debate.
Many parents I know are faced with many rather difficult challenges when raising their kids. From helping them differentiate between “Right and Wrong” to “You can’t Like Boys/Girls Yet!“. One of these challenges comes in the form of a rather innocent, yet well-intentioned, slightly manipulative, white lie. Santa Clause. Some kid’s parents tell their kids, “He’s not real” to “He is real, you just have to believe!“. What is fact? What is fiction? What have we embellished over the years about this rather kindly, jovial and jolly man who grants us Faith, teaching us about charity, humility, compassion, helps us to believe in the Magick of Christmas and more.
For those of you who don’t know. St. Nickolas was a real man. He was born in the third century in a village called Patara. He was a devout Christian as his parents raised him to be (as is often the case of those times and even a persistent theme of today). His parents unfortunately died when he was young and obeying, what he felt to be the will and words of Jeshua (Jesus), sold all that he owned and used what he had to help the needy, sick and the poor. He dedicated his life to God and was eventually made a Bishop of Myra while he was still a young man. “Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships.” (Excerpt from “Who is St. Nicholas” on St. Nicholas Center) More

Back home now, safe and sound. The trip back to the states went much more smoothly than crossing the border, believe me. lol So here’s my 1st official post since I’m back in the States. I hope you enjoy! Sorry if the formatting is a little messed up too. Can’t help that.
Oh! One more thing, I know it’s a small stretch but the Title is based on a Movie reference. If you get the reference, major Geek and Brownie-points for you! I didn’t want to add too much because than it would have been an obvious and rather “famous” quotation. If you do know what it is, be sure to say so in the comments. 🙂 And it doesn’t count if someone “Posts” the answer to what it is and you say, “Oh! I get it now! Duh!”. 😛
More often than not, when someone asks me what my religious orientation is or something related to it I state firmly and very plainly, “Pagan”. To me Pagan implies the modernized definition (check What Pagan Means to Me to find the definition) and that I worship multiple deities or forms of Spirit, I might have appreciation or reverence for nature (though I know not all Pagan groups do, but most do) and maybe more. That’s the general gist it implies though. More

I asked my “Man-Friend” the other day if he had any ideas for me about a topic he’d like to see me cover that I possibly haven’t already. And he gave me an excellent idea for a topic to discuss (among other ideas for things to keep me writing *facepalm, head shake, smile*). For those who are of the “Magickally Inclined” nature, you’ll probably enjoy this. For those who are curious about Magick and its practice, you might find this interesting. And for those who don’t care for Magick nor its use and think it’s a joke – I’m sure there is something else more entertaining out there to read than my blog.
Without further adieu, let’s get on with the show. By the way, for future reference – my readers are “Open” to making topic suggestions. You just need to leave a comment on the latest topic you’ve read and I’ll let you know if I can do it or not. I’d really like to see my readers get more proactive with me and ask me about this stuff or make suggestions, please!
So the topic for suggestion was, “When do Tools in Magick become cumbersome or impractical”? From personal experience as a Magickal Practitioner for a good decade or so, Tools to me become impractical when you can visualize clearly what it is you want done, focus your intention and you realize you have everything you need for your spellwork inside of you. That or you feel tools are slowing you down or holding you back from your truest potential. More

Hail and well met from Vancouver B.C. once more! I’m doing a little better today (as I have been a little under the weather last few days) and I have yet another topic for you. Sorry, on a bit of a semi-religious kick. Don’t mean to be – just happens to be the way of things, but at least it’s on topic on what I usually love to talk about in general. This is definitely a “Food for Thought” topic today.
Something I have heard and seen is a good handful, possibly more, people out there in the Rescontructionist communities like to say, “That’s ours, that’s ours, you STOLE that from us – it’s originally ours!” to anything that they feel originally was a part of their ancestral traditions. This ranges from holidays to holiday activities to general rules/guidelines, beliefs, principles and other things.
