The Most Vulgar Phrase You May Ever Hear…

WARNING! This topic may be offensive to certain parties. Its intent is not to be hurtful or even discriminate against said party(ies) but to provide a new level of ‘awareness’ to those who it DOES apply to. You have been adequately warned, proceed to read at your own risk. Thank you for your understanding.

The most vulgar and ugly phrase I have come across in the human language by far has to be, are you ready? “You’re going to hell!“. Yep. You read that right and that’s definitely what I typed, “You’re going to hell!”. You might be wondering how in the world this simple phrase can honestly and truly be so vulgar, but – think about it. How would you feel if someone said this very thing to you?
Especially if you considered yourself say, a ‘Good Christian‘. What if you were a non-Christian?

Non-Christian folk often have to put up with hearing this sort of thing all the time, especially if they’ve chosen a different path that they feel, honestly and truly connects them with the Divine in some way. In our world, there is not just one path to God, Yahweh, Gaia or whatever name you use to refer to the creator, there are many. Some are honestly more positive than others.

Now bear with me because I will be, most likely, pulling the Christians a few times in here, only because they are the best example. So if your Christian and don’t like being criticized, you were warned earlier but – this is where you may wish to get off. Just saying.

It’s no secret that I’m not a Christian – but I have Christian roots and so I try to be as respectful as I can toward the religion. The people on the other hand – they are hit or miss. It’s like what Gandhi said, “I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians, they are so unlike your Christ,” and that has been my general feeling of most “All smiles” Christians I meet. More

Careful! It’s a TRAP! Holiday Loans, beware!

My partner recently got a flyer-postcard in the mail from a company offering folks “loans” for the holiday so they could have the funds to purchase gifts for their loved ones. I had to do a double-take and shake my head, not to mention I was a little upset at this ploy.

A lot of folks are already in debt. Lots of folks are STILL recovering from the recession or they just are barely making enough to scrape by with how things have been in the economy. “Let’s help them be MORE in-debt by offering them loans!” *Phoney Big grin with two thumbs up, then frowny face* Ye-ah, no.

Folks, please – for the love of all things pure, sacred and holy, don’t fall for this load of horse manure. It’s really just a trick. You DON’T need it!

This time of year is supposed to be about family, togetherness, kindness, compassion and tender moments. It is more than just “material” based goods. Physical gifts are a simple perk. They aren’t necessary to enjoy this time of year.

If you are so worried about giving something, try a thoughtful card with one of your favorite quotations. Or try making a hand-made-home-made ornament. Perhaps learn a song someone in your family really loves and sing it for them. There are other ways you can show you care and give a “gift” of sorts to someone. Sometimes gifts aren’t always physical either, sometimes they are intangible.

Those are often the best gifts because they touch our souls and often last past the moment in which they were commenced, performed or otherwise. Those are the best. If you truly, absolutely, have nothing to give. Please don’t sweat it! Those who are your true friends and family should and WILL understand your circumstance. They shouldn’t need a physical gift to confirm why you are so special to them or worth having in their life. That should already come on its own.

They should be grateful for what they have and so should you. This truly is a time of also being grateful for what we do have. So think on that for a while.

This Holiday season I urge and implore you, don’t fall for the hype and get yourself a loan. Forget the “peer-pressure“. Do what’s right for you. Do what is within your means to do. And have a wonderful holiday season!

Thank you for reading as always. Much love and gratitude.

Once Upon a Time…There Was Magic(k)

WARNING!!! THIS IS A FAN BASED MILD RANT ON THE USE OF MAGICK IN THE “ONCE UPON A TIME” UNIVERSE/SERIES. IF YOU DON’T WISH TO READ THIS SORT OF THING, YOU HAVE BEEN DUELY WARNED AND YOU CAN READ AT YOUR OWN RISK HENCEFORTH. 😉

Some of you may know (if you follow my Twitter at all) that I am a fan of the show “Once Upon a Time”. I have been a fan since the start and throughout the series I have either completely -loved- the retelling of some of the classic fairytales, have been undecided or absolutely scrunched up my nose at others (where Dwarves come from? *shudders*)

Today I’m talking about one of those things I scrunch my nose up at, more specifically something that -bugs- me -most- since the beginning of this series. I have noticed a trend that the only beings with magic are the Faeries and the “Evil Villains”. *SPOILER ALERT, DO NOT READ NEXT LINE IF YOU DON’T WANT A SPOILER!*

Despite the fact that the “Savior” Emma we come to find out has “Magick” running through her veins, she is only one of the two seemingly good forces I have seen in the show (The good witches of Wizard of Oz storyline not quite counting since they aren’t from the Enchanted Forest, we are talking about Enchanted Forest Folks, not folks from other worlds within Once).

It’s a bit “irk-some” to see this since there is nothing anywhere that says there could be more folks who have learned magic in order to harness it for “Good”. Emma more or less being the only one (beside Faeries), is just not enough for someone like me.

Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop? STOP!

This is for all the folks who are or have been intuitive enough to just know when something big in the world is happening. For those who believed that in 2012 the World shifted or at least should have shifted into a brand new dimension or plane of existence, perhaps grandfathering everyone into a better state of being, thus ushering in a new world of peace. For all the Indigo, Crystal, Rainbow, Starseeds, Blue-Rays and/or Walk-ins, yes, this is for you too.

Some of you, might be like me, wondering what exactly happened? Some folks were expecting the end times, while others such as myself were hoping for something far better. Some of us did indeed feel a shift of sorts, but nothing major seemed to occur. We aren’t now living in a peaceful utopia. We are living in a new K’atun, that of Chaos. You mention the word ‘Chaos‘ though and most people freak out.

Chaos?! OH GODS! It must be the end of the world!” is probably some folks reaction, maybe even now after reading what I had said. However, Chaos is not always bad. Chaos can simply mean ‘Change’ as well, though – it might get a little hairy at times.

Many of us were waiting for this, “Phenomenal Cosmic Powers! Itty bitty living space,” (Sorry, couldn’t help myself) event to occur, yet when the time came and went, nothing truly seemed different, but we could feel an energy shift of sorts and there were changes that began to occur. Some folks were reporting having a pretty bad year in 2012 before it became 2013, myself included.
The best thing that happened that year was the completion of my first novel.

Even now, it seems as though the world isn’t really getting better but worse, if anything. There have been more School shootings over the last few years. Why this is, I’m not entirely sure, I know it can’t be just from bullying alone, though that doesn’t help – it only adds fuel to the fire. The attitude of the world or where we live might not seem better either.

P.A.U. 24 Life Happens & thoughts of NaNoWriMo 2014

Good morrow fellow bloggers and readers!

I’d have liked to have had a couple posts up for you this past week but I’ve been horribly busy, what with Halloween being one of my favorite holidays and prepping certain decorations for the front yard, I really didn’t have much time last week to do much writing. On top of that, I was considering writing something awesome today but my body said, “F**k you! I don’t feel good!” and so here I am, writing from my iPad and laying comfortably in my favorite thinking and creating place…the bed. lol

Am I the only person who finds their bedroom to be the best, most serene and very much a “Sanctuary” of sorts for their creative juices to flow? Little side note, I also love to wear my P.J.s. all day on a lazy day when I have no company. 😛 Anyone else love to do that?

Anyway, my thoughts are a little too random today as well, at the moment, for me to put anything decent together or very entertaining (unless you find this entertaining, then my work here is done!), so – you get THIS! MWHAHAHA! *Pauses, clears throat* Sorry, I’m only a slight bit loopy at the moment. So loopy that I can tell my eyes are glazing twice over when I read this so – I’ve no doubt when I read this tomorrow or whenever (again), I will for certain see all my glaring spelling errors and grammatical mistakes that would normally irritate the dickens out of me.

ANYWAY! So, on to much more important things than my random loopiness. So in my creative off time for Halloween/Samhain/Samhuiin/etc, I have thought about whether I will take part in NaNoWriMo this year. For those folks unfamiliar it stands for “National Novel Writing Month” and it is where folks take time out of their days during the month of November, when they can, to try to write a novel or short stories that add up to 60k words total.

I am not thinking of a novel as my other Novel is still waiting very patiently for me to want to get back to it for editing (*shudder, dread*). I was thinking something a little less ambitious but still so, such as working on the short-stories I have wanted to write about my children’s stories I’ve mentioned before. They are intended to be “Aesop’s Fables“-esque with a lesson and a moral. I’ve wanted to work on them for a while.

An Open Letter to the Fashion Industry and Media

beauty-comes-in-all-shapes

I know what the title says and it’s true, this is my open letter to them – AND – to YOU. Yes you. That short and stout, the big and tall, the svelte and short, tall and svelte, the big breasted or too small to count (at least to those ignorant to think so) lad and lassie. I know your pains, for I have felt them too. I know friends and family who could even sympathize with you.

It sucks when you feel singled out in a world that caters to a supposed “Average”. You go to the store when it is time to find new shoes or clothes, but either something is too long, such as the sleeves or pant-legs even. Maybe it is the ‘bust’ on that beautiful blouse that’s in size “XS” but the bust you’d swear is “32C” instead of perhaps a “32A” like you feel it should be.

We cry, “It’s not fair! It’s not right!” because we shouldn’t be made to feel like we are anything ‘less’ for choosing to be who we are – or want to be. Whether that is aesthetics or personality. We also know people will say, “Well the world isn’t fair, don’t you know that!” and you know what? I think that’s a load of rubbish. I believe the world could be fair if it wanted to be, maybe even if perhaps we believed it to be. It’s just other negative people around us who keep perpetuating this negative notion that there is no “Fairness” in the world.

You have every right to feel angry and upset that you often feel singled out by the Fashion Industry and/or the Media. Even give them the “Ol’bird”. It’s really all their fault anyway. They find what they consider, “The Average” and make clothing to cater to it. Then it’s “One size fits most” and you know – you aren’t “most“. Your body is as unique as your personality, and you know that for a fact.

What’s also not fair, is for people who tend to run on the “Skinny” or “Svelte” side of things, they make our clothes based off run-way models whom many have been bullied into changing their figures or getting plastic surgery to fit the Fashion and Media’s idea of what “beautiful” is in the first place.

Maybe you were even told to “Go eat a sandwich“, even in a joking manner, only to find you thought it rather insulting because people really don’t know how much you’ve tried to gain weight but never have any luck. Or perhaps – you’re just built that way and happy with your size but find it very ignorant of them for saying such things without even asking you how you feel about your own weight – or why so skinny? in the first place. Samurai Jack Knows That Good Can Sometimes Waver

Samurai Jack

Samurai Jack (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I’m slowly but surely going to try to work through some of my drafts and some of “The Daily Post” responses because I liked some of the ones I missed. So keep your eyes peeled for those. Here’s a special topic drawn up for this week as from the “Draft” section of my inventory of words. Enjoy! 😉

One of my favorite Cartoons that used to air on Cartoon Network was Samurai Jack. Granted, I didn’t much care for the art style and at first it was difficult to get around it to watch the show and enjoy it. After a while, it was one of those shows that just ‘grew‘ on you. Art style, storyline, characters, strange alien Earth and all.

Netflix FINALLY got Season 1 in their inventory (though I’m confused about where the rest is) and I decided to re-watch some episodes for old times sake because – let’s face it – I missed the show. I was re-watching the episode “Under the Sea” and was reminded of a real-life situation where I too had experienced something like what Jack mentioned. For those who don’t know the episode very well, I can give you a link for a re-cap or you can watch the episode for a refresher. More

FanExpo 2013 – Review

Dawn (Me) striking a Heroic Pose in the driver’s seat of the DeLorean (Time Machine from Back to the Future). Was my best picture I think.

Hello everyone!

Welcome back for the FanExpo of 2013 Review. It’s a week or week and a half late but oh well, better late than never I definitely say. 😛

Did I have fun you wonder? Not as much as I usually have at say SakuraCon or possibly Emerald City ComiCon (and I’ve only been to ComiCon 1 year before mind you). It wasn’t the worst convention I’ve ever been too either, but it was one that showed it was a “Work-in-Progress“. So here are my Pros, what little there are, and Cons for FanExpo 2013 Experience.

Con 1; Ticket Lines – I got there at 5:30 in the morning hoping to beat many of the other people who would need to buy tickets at the door for the convention. Why? Well from the fact I’ve been to SakuraCon and know how long the door-line can get, it’s a wise idea, typically. However, I was also there because I had heard from a pretty reliable source that they “Oversold” tickets for the convention online.

So even if you HAD a ticket to get in, there was NO guarantee you might ACTUALLY get in after all. Which I know would have royally miffed a few Con-goers and the Con may very well be a disaster on that basis alone. However, as time went on it didn’t look quite like tickets were as much an issue as I once thought they were going to be. As they announced to us who were waiting, patient and eagar to buy our tickets in line, “We are going to start out selling 300 tickets,” and then they let slip the dogs of war. WHAT?! It was about to be a Geek-War come on! 😛 More

P.A.U. 21 – Long time no blog!

Hello everyone!

It’s FINALLY me again and I’m sorry it’s been pretty much 2 weeks, maybe over that without so much as a, “Hey! How you all doing? I’m okay! I got back home from my trip just fine and this is how FanExpo was!” but I have been busy. Not long after I came home I had to prep for house-sitting. Then while house-sitting, I know I’d have been blogging if I could, but I decided to help out around the house with some extra cleaning that I know would be appreciated by the family once they got back.

I did make it to FanExpo (2013) in Vancouver, B.C. and honestly? It wasn’t that impressive to me, but I have another blog I’d like to dedicate to it for a full detailed review as to why I wasn’t that thrilled with it. I will say putting my make-up on for my costume was totally worth it because I got recognized by a handful of people and THAT was fun. For those unaware, I went as ‘Dawn’ from the ‘Cry for Dawn‘ comics and ‘Dawn Trilogy‘. I just threw something together that looked Dawn-esque and went from there. The Make-up and accents are what really made it.

My man reminded me he missed my blogging which told me, I REALLY should try to make some time for updating my blog. I told myself I was going to, especially when I was house-sitting, but that didn’t work out so well. So here I am today, trying to do just that.

For those wondering about my ‘Donation Pool’ thing I’m trying to do, I have good news and bad news. Bad news is – I still have some kinks to work out of the 1st plan I had. The Good news? I may have yet another GREAT contingency plan that would work out far better than the 1st. Just all depends on YOU and the amount of traffic I bring in to my blog. I’ll tell you more as the plan truly unfolds and if I hit another ‘snag‘ I’ll tell you about it. Don’t worry.

Bright side? Some of the stuff on my ‘Project List‘ I want to see done, is slowly happening for some parts of the town. Houses that I wanted to help paint are getting painted, whether or not they are getting inspected too for health and safety though, is another story. Still, someone said, “Maybe it’s all your positive energy you are putting toward it that’s helping make it happen? And maybe it’s Spirit’s way of saying, You should save & spend your money on other projects – I got this one.” would be kind of cool.

Hard to say though. Any who, I need to update the info in the project page and hopefully type up some other posts today like a ‘Mad-woman’. I hope all of you out there are well and are experiencing blog success in your own way or whatever kind of success you’d like to be having right now. Until next time – thank you for reading!

Is Business to Blame for Social Negative Reinforcement?

A dear friend of mine I met through SecondLife and I were sharing a conversation yesterday about our experiences in Retail. Especially those terribly “negative” experiences we have had in the retail environment. For those unfamiliar with the Retail market, it can be pretty cut-throat, unforgiving, unfair and sometimes – very unrewarding (especially sometimes with how the CUSTOMERS treat you). Course, it depends on the type of Retailer you are.

I tend to find Small Retail Businesses (Mom and Pop Stores) are better, friendlier, care about their employees (more often than not), appreciate them, believe in what they are selling and more. Course this isn’t true for EVERYONE I’m sure, but that’s been my experience.

However, during the conversation it sparked the idea for a possible Psychological aspect of Retail that goes unconsidered. Big Retailers often do specific things with their inventory (ex: Move sh*t around on you) that may annoy or irritate you, but the ploy that they are aiming for is to get you to spend more time than you’d like and tempt you to buy more than what you actually NEED. Some of you are probably going, “Well Duh!“, humor me – for those who don’t know. Thank you.

As I was saying, now while they have Psychological ploys like this to boost sales, my question is – are they thinking about some of the “Negative Reinforcement” they are helping to promote when it comes to society/their customer base? More
